Welcome to Asian Takeout
An Image & Media Database for St. Olaf College
Asian Takeout is a cultural multi-media database created to serve the students, faculty and staff at St Olaf College. Its purpose is to allow individuals to come and “takeout” digitized media related to Asia for use in classroom or campus-related settings. Asian Takeout is organized around a number of keyword concepts. By selecting one or more keywords, a visitor to the site can bring up a wide variety of media either from across Asia (“Search by Keyword”) or from a specific country within Asia (“Search by Country”). An advanced search feature within each broader search further allows for searches specific to a wide variety of areas within the database, such as an historical era within a specific country, a medium of an object, or even the contributor!
Asian Takeout is a growing resource; any and all feedback in the form of suggested corrections or pedagogical notes will be most welcome. Over time, and with the aid of the St Olaf community as a whole, it is hoped that the database will come to be a useful resource for people both within and outside of the field of Asian Studies.
