Bye homers, throws two-hit shutout to lead Toms in opener

Maria Bye homered and threw a two-hit shutout to lead the top-ranked University of St. Thomas softball team to a 4-0 win in the first round of the MIAC Tournament on Friday afternoon in Northfield, Minn.

Nikki Conway and Mandy Evans also added solo homers for the Tommies (38-2).

Saint Ben's loaded the bases in the seventh inning on a pair of walks and a double by Patty Devoy.
