Oles down Macalester, Germeroth gets NCAA cut

The St. Olaf Women's Swimming and Diving team beat Macalester 170-111 on Saturday afternoon while diver Alyssa Germeroth qualified for nationals.
Germeroth won the women's 1meter event with a score of 433.45, good for her first NCAA cut of the year.
The Ole women also dominated several events finishing 1-2-3. Jamie Fredeen, Aly Janzen, and Jessie Gibbons won the 200 free. Jen Marzolf, Lainie Cassel, and Carrie Heiberg won the 200 butterfly. Amanda Rorem, Annie Gatzlaff, and Heidi Thole won the 50 freestyle. Gaztlaff, Gibbons, and Lindsey Hickman won the 200 backstroke. And finally, Fredeen, Janzen, and Marzolf won the 500 freestyle.
The Oles also collected first place finishes from Rorem in the 100 butterfly, Christine Bruno in the 1000 free, Alli Beardsley in the 400 I.M., and Kjersten Grinde in the 100 breaststroke.
Next up, the Ole women head to Iowa State on Friday, January 18 for a dual meet at 6p.m. and then back home to join the men for a dual meet against St. Cloud State at home on Saturday, January 19 at 1 p.m.
