ST. PAUL, Minn. - St. Olaf sophomore Ali Berens was named the MIAC's all-conference softball team on Tuesday after the infielder had team-bests in hits (42), homers (6) and average (.375).
The all-league honor was the second for Berens, who hit safely in 13 of her last 14 games (28-for-47, .596)
Three others - senior Emily Hennig, sophomore Ellen Larson and first year Kjirsten Speer - were honorable mention selections.
Hennig hit .363 with five homers and a team-highs in doubles (8) and RBI (25).
Larson hit .360 and Speer .370 for the Oles, who won five of their last six conference games.
Katie Truax, who went 9-6 with a 3.38 ERA as a pitcher and was a .312 hitter in 77 at bats, was the Oles' representative on the MIAC's All-Sportsmanship Team.
St. Olaf went 17-17 for its first .500 season since 1998. The Oles' ten wins in league play were also the most since '98.
