ASHBURN, Va. - St. Olaf grad Horace Gant '08 was added to the Washington Redskins' practice squad on Sunday.
Gant, who had two receptions for 26 yards in the Redskins' five preseason games, joined the team as an undrafted free agent in April.
Gant was described by Redskins.com reporter Gary Fitzgerald as "essentially the team's sixth receiver," after head coach Jim Zorn and staff decided to keep just five on the 53-man active roster.
NFL teams may carry an eight-man practice squad. Players on the practice squad retain free agent status and may be signed by any team without compensation to the original team.
