Women's soccer gains 2-0 victory over Concordia

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Deanne Schmidt had a goal and an assist in the St. Olaf women's soccer team's 2-0 victory over Concordia College-Moorhead on Wednesday evening.
After a scoreless first half, St. Olaf took an early second half lead as Ellie Steiner put the ball into the back of the net at the 48:09 mark. Steiner was able give the Oles the 1-0 lead as she scored after Deanne Schmidt's shot ricocheted off the crossbar. Schmidt earned an assist on the play.
Schmidt was able to score an insurance goal for St. Olaf in the 73rd minute. She was assisted by Catie Christoffel on the play.
Elizabeth Huggins stopped all eight shots on net by Concordia to pickup the shutout victory for St. Olaf.
The victory for St. Olaf (5-4-1, 2-2-1 MIAC) snapped a four game winless streak. The loss for Concordia (7-1-3, 3-1-2) was its first of the season.
The Oles return to MIAC action on Saturday at the College of St. Catherine at 1 p.m.
