Ole women third at Wartburg's Dan Huston Invite

WAVERLY, Iowa - Jenna Carlson was fifth and Annie Knutson sixth as the St. Olaf women's cross country team was third of 13 teams at Wartburg's Dan Huston Invitational in the first event at the school's Max Cross Country Course.

Carlson finished in 22:52, three seconds ahead of Knutson.

Each of the Oles' top seven runners finished 41st or better in the 169-runner field. Michaela McLauglin was 25th, Abby Smith 28th and Nellie Adams 31st.

The Oles, ranked 33rd in the latest USTFCCA poll, were 15 places behind second place and fifth-ranked UW-LaCrosse. Third-ranked Wartburg won the event.
