Simons' power-play goal lifts Oles over Gusties

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Barret Simons' power play goal with 2:06 left in the third period broke a 3-3 tie and lifted the St. Olaf men's hockey team to a 4-3 win over No. 12 Gustavus Adolphus College on Friday night at Northfield Ice Arena.
Simons' goal came 5:30 after the Gusties had tied the game on a goal from Eric Bigham.
Dylan Mueller had two assists and Nick Krass 25 saves to earn the win for the Oles (5-2-0, 3-0-0 MIAC), who were 2-for-5 on the power play.
Gustavus (5-2-0, 2-1-0 MIAC) led 2-0 on first period tallies from Cody Mosbeck and former Ole Casey Dynan.
St. Olaf scored the next three goals - from Sam Windsor, Isak Tranvik and Bryan Osmondson - to gain a 3-2 lead. Osmondson's goal came at the 7:41 mark of the third.
The teams meet in the series finale tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. at All Seasons Arena in Mankato, Minn.
