Women's hockey tops Cobbers

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The St. Olaf women's hockey team topped Concordia College-Moorhead 5-1 on Friday night at Northfield Ice Arena.
Lauren Tomford scored twice to lead the Oles (2-4-1, 2-3-0), who led 2-1 after the first and 4-1 after two.
Kaylee Black scored the Cobbers' lone goal.
Concordia outshot St. Olaf 14-6 in the first period, but goaltender Jessica Ptachick made 13 saves in the frame and 27 in the game to earn the win.
The Oles had first period goals from Katie Iraci at 9:34 and Taylor Orr at 15:36.
After Black's goal, Tomford and Kelly Biddle each found the net in a span of 2:29 in the second period to make it 4-1.
Tomford's second goal came on an empty net with 44 seconds left in the game.
The teams meet in the series finale tomorrow at 2 p.m.
