Erickson gets 22 as women's basketball defeats St. Scholastica

DULUTH, Minn. - Eylse Erickson had 22 points as the visiting St. Olaf women's basketball team held on for a 44-40 win over the College of St. Scholastica on Wednesday afternoon.
Erickson hit a pair of free throws with 1:06 left to help seal the victory and end the team's three-game losing streak.
The Oles overcame a tough shooting day to collect the win, their first since Nov. 29. St. Olaf was 14-for-60 (23.3 percent) from the field, including a dismal 2-for-23 (8.7) from the arc.
St. Olaf (2-5, 0-4 MIAC), playing its first game since Dec. 10, led 22-15 at the break.
Kirsten Haukom had 12 points and nine rebouds to pace the host Saints (2-9, 1-1 UMAC), who got within three and had the ball in the final 35 seconds.
The Oles then forced a turnover with 17 seconds left and Jamie Erdahl hit one of two at the line.
St. Olaf returns to conference action on Saturday at Augsburg College. The teams split the season series in 2007-08.
