NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Second-ranked UW-Superior defeated St. Olaf 3-1 in a non-conference men's hockey game at Northfield Ice Arena on Saturday afternoon.
All of the game's scoring came in a six-minute stretch of the first period. Superior's Chris Wilson and Braden Desmet, the Yellowjackets' leading scorer, got goals at 3:54 and 6:42 to make it 2-0.
The Oles' Chalie Raskob found the net on feeds from Ben Umhoefer and Nick Kang a minute later to bring St. Olaf within a goal.
UW-Superior, which is undefeated in its last 14 games (13-0-1), then got a goal from Talon Berlando at 9:35 of the first to make it 3-1.
The team's traded scoreless second and third periods - helped by the penalty kill units. St. Olaf stopped three Yellowjacket power plays in the final two periods while Superior held the Oles scoreless on four extra-man advantages.
