Men's Alpine has strong start to 08-09

HASTINGS, Minn. - St. Olaf was first of 11 at its first race of 2008-09 on Saturday and Sunday at Afton Alps.

The Oles picked up the first five and eight of the top 11 spots in the slalom and the top four spots in the giant slalom in the event.

Connor Lund was first in the slalom and third in the GS while Nick Stang won the giant slalom and was fourth in the slalom.

The Oles ski next on Saturday and Sunday at Spirit Mountain in Duluth, Minn.
