WINONA, Minn. - Saint Mary's scored with 52 seconds left in the third period to force a 3-3 women's hockey tie with visiting St. Olaf on Friday night.

Jamie Henneman scored the goal that sent the game to overtime after SMU had pulled goaltender, Madeline Lenz, 29 seconds earlier.

St. Olaf outshot the Cardinals 4-1 in the extra session, but Lenz stopped each and earned the tie. Jessica Ptachick made 45 saves for the Oles, including 18 in the third period.

St. Olaf took a 3-1 lead in the opening minute of the third on a Lauren Tomford goal.

Host SMU stormed back with goals from Cierra Lopis at 8:17 and the game-tying goal from Henneman at 19:08.

Tomford had an assist on the game's first goal -- from Kim McClintick at 8:07 of the first -- and had a team-high seven shots in the tie.

The teams meet at Northfield Ice Arena in the series finale on Saturday at 7 p.m.
