Oles go cold in second half, fall to SJU

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - St. Olaf went over nine minutes without a bucket in the second half of a 70-58 MIAC men's basketball loss to Saint John's on Wednesday night at Skoglund Center.

Aaron Burtzel had 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Johnnies in the win.

St. Olaf (8-12, 5-10 MIAC), which has now lost five in a row, led 35-33 early in the second half after a pair of Alfred Jaryan free throws. SJU then held the Oles scoreless for the next nine minutes and went on a 19-2 run over the next 12-plus to gain a 52-37 lead with 6:19 to play.

Jaryan had a team-high 14 points to lead St. Olaf, while Mark Torell had 11 and Nate Krosschell ten in the loss.
