Men's swimming cruises past Carleton

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Visiting St. Olaf won 12 of 16 events in a 201-99 men's swimming and diving dual meet win over Carleton College on Saturday afternoon.
The Oles won both relays, going 3:12.37 in the 400 Free and 1:35.36 in the 200 Medley.
St. Olaf had three individual double winners in the meet - Nate Bentley, Nelson Westby and Chris Bateman.
Bentley won the 200 IM (2:03.04) and the 200 Back (2:19.38).
Westby was the first of four Oles atop the 100 Fly results and also picked up a win in the 100 Breast (56.74).
Bateman took first in the 500 Free (4:41.57) and 200 Free (1:46.21).
St. Olaf also got wins from Jake Koch in the 100 Free (48.09), Erik Witzel in the 200 Fly (2:01.52) and diver Ian Straehly on the 1-meter board (266.65).
A few Oles will swim in Tuesday's Northfield Invitational in the final meet before the MIAC Championships, set to run Feb. 19-21 at the University of Minnesota.
St. Olaf, ranked sixth in the latest Collegeswimming.com Division III rankings, will seek its 24th conference title in school history. The Oles last won the event in 2007.
