Men's hockey finishes sweep of Royals

BLAINE, Minn. - Britton Smith scored twice to help 15th-ranked St. Olaf to a 5-2 men's hockey win and MIAC sweep of Bethel University on Saturday night.
Dylan Mueller added a goal and an assist for the the Oles (14-6-1, 10-1-1 MIAC), who opened up a four-point lead in the league into next weekend's showdown with second place St. Thomas.
Mueller gave the Oles a 1-0 lead with his score at 9:01 of the first. St. Olaf extended the lead to 4-0 after a three-goal second period on tallies from Thor Josephson (3:37), Smith (10:03) and Bryan Osmondson (13:53).
Bethel got within 4-2 on a pair of power-play goals in the third by Christian Fogerty and Kent Bostrum.
Smith responded with a power-play goal of his own at 16:46 to seal the win.
