ST. PAUL, Minn. - St. Olaf sophomore goaltender Nick Krauss was named the MIAC's player of the week on Monday, after he made 29 and 26 saves to help 15th-ranked St. Olaf to a 4-1 and 5-2 sweep of Bethel this weekend.
He made key saves when Friday's game was in question, with the game tied 1-1 early in the third period. On Saturday, Krauss stopped all 17 shots in the first two periods on the way to a 4-0 lead. He is now 8-1-0 in league play with a 2.56 goals against average.
Krauss is tops in the MIAC in save percentage (.924) and wins (11-2-0) and is third in goals against (2.56). His save percentage ranks 15th in the country.
St. Olaf is 10-1-1 in conference play with a four-point lead over second place St. Thomas. The Oles and Tommies meet this weekend in a pivotal home-and-home series. St. Olaf has never won an MIAC title outright and has not shared a title since 1937-38.
