MINNEAPOLIS - Augsburg scored five times in the final 4:47 of regulation to earn a 7-7 MIAC men's hockey tie with regular-season champion St. Olaf on Saturday night in a wild finish to the regular season.
The Oles, who had a hat trick from Sam Windsor, led 2-1 after the first, 4-1 after two and 6-2 before the Auggies began their offensive outburst with Nick Guran's goal with 4:47 left in the third.
Augsburg then cut the lead to 6-5 on Chris Slavik's even-strength tally and the first of three extra-skater scores.
With 45 seconds left the Oles extended the lead to 7-5 on an empty-net goal by Windsor, which seemingly ended it.
The Auggies had other ideas.
Nine seconds later Guran scored to make it 7-6 and, with eight seconds left in regulation, Slavik tied it with his second goal.
Augsburg had the only three shots on goal in overtime, but the Oles' Ben Leis made saves on each to escape with a tie.
St. Olaf remained unbeaten in its last nine games (7-0-2). The Oles have home ice throughout the MIAC Playoffs and will host the winner of the #4/5 play-in game on Saturday at 8 p.m.
Tickets for that game will be on sale on Sunday (Feb. 22) at 12 p.m. at the college's Buntrock Commons.
