Women's track hosts Ole Open

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The St. Olaf women's track and field team hosted nine schools in Friday's Ole Open at the Tostrud Center.

St. Olaf's top performer in the unscored meet was junior pole-vaulter Amie Fillmore, who won her event, reaching a height of 3.67 meters. In other field events, Ole Jordan Kling was fourth overall in the long jump with a distance of 4.82 meters.

On the track, Ole Abby Smith was third in the 1000 meter run, crossing the line in 3:02.57 behind two runners from the University of St. Thomas, Erin Sprangers and Kelly Russ, who won the event in 2:58.3. Also racing well for St. Olaf was Kat Thompson, who added another third place finish in the 55 meter hurdles, with a time of 9.28 seconds.

The Ole Open was the St. Olaf women's track and field team's last meet of the regular indoor season. They will compete again next weekend, March 5-7, at the MIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, held in Moorhead.
