Women's hockey has season come to end with loss at top-ranked Gustavus

ST. PETER, Minn. - Top-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College defeated the visiting St. Olaf women's hockey team 5-0 in the semifinals of the MIAC playoffs on Saturday afternoon.

The Gusties (21-1-4) broke a scoreless tie with two goals inside the final 1:28 of the first period and, with a 3-0 lead after two, added two goals in the first 3:09 of the third to seal the win.

Jessica Ptachick made 47 saves for the Oles, but took the loss.

Mari Gunderson and Alli Schwab each scored twice for the Gusties, who outshot St. Olaf 52-10 in the win. St. Olaf managed just two shots in the games first 40 minutes (31-2).

St. Olaf finished its season 9-14-4. The Oles playoff appearance was their fifth in the last six seasons.
