Men's track and field hosts The Qualifier

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The St. Olaf men's track and field team hosted The Qualifer on Saturday afternoon at the Tostrud Center.
The Oles had a strong showing in their last indoor meet before the MIAC Championships, winning three events and placing second in six.
On the track for St. Olaf, Cullen O'Neill's 1:54.23 800 meter effort was good for first place. Jacob Marotz, also of St. Olaf, added another first place finish in the 3000 meter run with a time of 8:53.19, edging out Victor Sanchez of Augsburg by .48 seconds. The Ole's final first place showing came from sophomore Ben Wilson, who took the 1000 meter run in 2:36.33. Teammate Brian Burseth, a senior, was second in 2:37.33.
In the mile run, St. Olaf's Dobuol Ruon was second in 4:19.61 to Kyle Brandon, of St. Thomas University's, time of 4:16.06. Ole Isaac Tut added another second place finish in the 400 meter dash, crossing the line in 51.44.
In the field for the Oles, Zeke Heydenreich and John Schantzen were second and third, respectively, in the weight throw. Schantzen added another second place in the shot put with a distance of 14.90 meters. In the high jump, Ryan Doyle added the team's final second place, reaching a height of 1.95 meters.
The Qualifier was unscored.
The team will compete next on March 5-7 at the MIAC Indoor Championships, held in Moorhead, Minnesota.
