Women's track and field finishes indoor season at MIAC's

MOORHEAD, Minn. - The St. Olaf women's track and field team finished its indoor season with a ninth place finish at the MIAC Championships on Saturday at Concordia College-Moorhead.
St. Olaf's top perfomer in the conference championships was junior pole-vaulter Amie Fillmore, who won her event, and qualified provisionally for the NCAA National meet, with a distance of 3.50 meters.
On the track, Abby Smith was a stand-out for the team, placing fourth in the 800 meter run in 2:21.04. Smith added a fifth place finish in the 1000 meter run, crossing the line in 3:03.14.
In the 5000 meter run, senior Oles Annie Knutson and Jenna Carlson were sixth and seventh, respectively, finishing in 18:35.61 and 18:38.84. Carlson also added an eighth place, 10:39.43 finish in the 3000 meter run.
The team from St. Thomas University won the meet with 161.0 points. Second place Gustavus Adolpus College had 107.3 points, and the College of St. Benedict was third with 97.3. St. Olaf totalled 35.0 points in the meet.
