Baseball sweeps St. Norbert to open Florida trip

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The St. Olaf baseball team opened its 12-game southern trip with a 16-5 and 14-0 sweep of St. Norbert College on Friday.

Game One: St. Olaf 16, St. Norbert 5
Tyler Jones and Justin Tobias each collected three hits while Todd Mathison worked six strong innings in the victory.

Pat Wadzinski added a homer as the Oles had 12 hits and benefited from a seven-run first inning and three St. Norbert errors.

St. Norbert scored all of its runs in the first inning to gain a 3-0 advantage before the Oles scored seven in their half.

Game Two: St. Olaf 14, St. Norbert 0
Nick Fuerst went 3-for-5 with three doubles, four RBIs and a run as the Oles completed the sweep.

Brandon Agneberg worked the first five innings before Matt Neuger closed the game with two innings of near perfect relief. Neuger struck out all six that he retired, walking one.

The Oles blew the game open with a nine-run third inning as a part of a 14-hit game.

Luke Peterson, Jones and Tyler Johnson added two hits apiece in the win.
