Baseball gets wins over Hamliton, Otterbein

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - Todd Mathison went a combined 7-for-10 with two homers and ten RBI as the St. Olaf baseball team earned two non-conference wins on Thursday, routing Hamliton 19-4 before holding off Otterbein 17-13.
St. Olaf 19, Hamliton 4 Mathison homered as a part of a 4-for-4, six-RBI game in the Oles' big win. Justin Tobias added a 3-for-3 day while Nick Fuerst went 2-for-3.
The Oles, who had 19 hits, fell behind 3-1 before scoring five in the second and third innings. The offense added a seven-run fifth on three hits and a couple of Hamilton errors.
Ben Hughes earned his first collegiate victory, allowing seven hits and four runs in six innings of work.
St. Olaf 17, Otterbein 13 The Oles broke an 11-11 tie with a six-run ninth inning, helped by Mathison's one-out grand slam to left field.
Fuerst added another three-hit game while Tyler Johnson and Carson Jones had two each.
The Oles' outburst in the ninth was their second of the game. The team tagged Otterbein for six in the fourth inning as well.
Otterbein, which was led by three-hit games from John Quimby and Adam Becker, tied the game with five-run eighth inning.
