Oles sweep softball twinbill from Macalester

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The St. Olaf softball team swept Macalester College, 5-3 and 7-1, on Saturday afternoon at Mabel Shirley Field.

Game One: St. Olaf 5, Macalester 3
The Oles used a three-run sixth inning to come-from-behind and defeat the visting Scots 5-3 in game one. In the rally, St. Olaf used two-out, two-RBI single from Ali Berens to take the lead.

The Oles' Kjirsten Speer went 2-for-4 while Adrienne Rowell had a homer and scored twice.

Pitcher Katie Truax scattered nine hits and a walk to get the win, her third of the season (3-5).

Macalester was led by pitcher Olivia Abbott's 3-for-4 day at the plate. Abbott, who doubled and drove in a run, struck out six and allowed only two earned runs in the loss.

Game Two: St. Olaf 7, Macalester 1
The Oles scored five in the first and coasted to the game two victory and series sweep.

Berens, Truax, Speer and Melanie Brooks each had two hits for the Oles.

Erin Johnson got the win, going all seven innings. She allowed just one walk and seven hits, while striking out two.
