Softball loses two at Gustavus

ST. PETER, Minn. - The St. Olaf softball team dropped a pair of MIAC games at Gustavus Adolphus College, 7-1 and 11-0, on Wednesday afternoon.
Game One: Gustavus 7, St. Olaf 1 Gustavus scored in each of the first three innings and pitcher Ellen Truebenbach held St. Olaf to two hits in the 5-1 win.
Truebenbach struck out 13 and walked three and Emily Wendorff went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI in the win for Gustavus.
St. Olaf cut the Gusties' lead to 4-1 when Ali Berens, who singled earlier in the inning, was driven in on a groundball by Kari Zimmerman in the top of the fourth.
Game Two: Gustavus 11, St. Olaf 0 Gustavus scored seven runs in the second inning and the Oles managed only one hit off pitcher Callie Nelson in the 11-0 game.
Gustavus had 14 hits in its four plate appearances, led by Jenny Ewert and Andrea Brown who were each 2-for-2.
Ellen Larson had the Oles' only hit, a single to right field.
