Men's track runs at Carleton Relays, Meet of Champions

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Ole men's track team competed this weekend at the Carleton Relays, collecting one event win and five second place finishes. St. Olaf also sent two competitors to the Meet of Champions, hosted by Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois.

At the Meet of Champions, Ole Jacob Marotz and Jon Lambert competed in the 10,000 meter run, placing sixth and 14th, respectively. Marotz ran a time of 30:55.69, and Lambert crossed the line in 32:26.81.

The top performer for St. Olaf at the Carleton Relays was David Green, who won the 3000 meter steeplechase in 9:50.66. In the 1500 meter run, Ole Ben Wilson captured fourth place with a time of 4:04.47. Teammate Dobuol Ruon was sixth in 4:08.67.

In shorter events, St. Olaf junior Dan Monroe added second place finishes in the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes, with times of 11.05 and 22.02. The Oles added another second place finish in the 400 meter dash with Isaac Tut's 48.91 performance.

St. Olaf added their final second place finishes in the 4 x 100 meter relay with a time of 42.90, and the 4 x 800 meter relay with a time of 8:18.74.

The Oles finished fifth in the meet, scoring 74.0 points. The team from Gustavus Adolphus College won with 163.0 points, followed by Hamline University with 143.5 and Bethel University with 119.0.

The St. Olaf men's track and field team competes next on April 22 at the Mac Twilight meet in St. Paul.
