Softball sweeps Carleton to finish MIAC schedule

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The St. Olaf softball team picked up 4-1 and 7-1 wins over Carleton College on Saturday to finish its MIAC schedule.

Game One: St. Olaf 4, Carleton 1
Katie Truax went 3-for-3 with a run and threw a complete game two-hitter to propel the Oles to the game one victory.

St. Olaf used a four-run fourth inning, sparked by Ali Berens' leadoff homer. Truax hit an infield single in the inning, sandwiched between doubles from Ellen Larson and Kari Zimmerman.

Karen Robinson went 2-for-3 for the Knights in the loss.

Game Two: St. Olaf 7, Carleton 1
St. Olaf scored five first inning runs, three of which were unearned, and cruised to the win and series sweep.

Kjirsten Speer and Truax collected two hits apiece and pitcher Erin Johnson scattered 10 hits in a complete game win. Johnson stranded 12 Carleton baserunners in the victory, her third of the year.

Berens was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and two runs.
