NORTHFIELD, Minn. - St. Olaf's men's track and field team beat cross-town rival Carleton College in this year's annual Rolex Classic meet, held Tuesday evening.

The Oles won 11 of the meet's 17 events, including the 800 meter run, the deciding event. Ben Wilson, a sophomore, won the event in 1:58.39. The original deciding event-- the 5000 meter run-- was won by Ole Jacob Marotz, but was contested.

Other notable performances for St. Olaf include John Schantzen's shot-put win, a distance of 16.37 meters, which qualifies provisionally for the NCAA National meet.

On the track, teammate Dan Monroe contributed wins in the 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash, with times of 11.30 and 22.80 respectively.

The Oles will compete next at the Meet of the Unsaintly in St. Paul on May 2.
