Women's tennis reaches MIAC title match, falls to Gustavus in final

ST. PETER, Minn. - The St. Olaf women's tennis team won four of six singles matches in a 5-4 win over Carleton College in the semifinals on Saturday before losing an 8-1 match to Gustavus in the MIAC playoffs title match.
In the championship loss to Gustavus, the Oles' Claire Carlson earned a 2-6, 7-5 1-0 (10-7) win at the No. 4 singles spot.
St. Olaf finished the season 14-6 overall and 8-2 in conference play. The team extended its winning streak to seven with first round win over Concordia and the semifinal win over Carleton.
Claire Carlson finished the season on a nine-match winning streak and was 15-3 overall, including a 12-1 mark at the No. 4 spot.
Abigail Ho finished 11-9 at the top singles flight, while four others were over .500 as well -- Christine Muller (10-8), Aimee Ny (11-5), Sarah Carlson (8-6) and Ellen Goerss (8-6).
The Oles' No. 2 player, Caitlin Harper, won five of her last eight matches of the spring including each in of the first two in the MIAC playoffs.
