ST. PAUL, Minn. - St. Olaf senior infielder Tyler Johnson was named the MIAC's position player of the week after he homered five times and went a combined 10-for-22 in the Oles' 5-1 week.

Johnson helped St. Olaf clinch a playoff berth with his performance over the stretch as he completed the move from first base to the middle infield, playing second base and short when Ole ace Todd Mathison pitches. He hit three homers in the Oles' game two win over Hamline on Thursday and had one each in wins over Gustavus and Carleton. In the postseason-clinching sweep over Carleton, Johnson went 4-for-6 with a walk, two runs and two RBIs.

His five homers this week gives him 12 for the season, one shy of the school record. His 39 RBIs are a career-high.
