NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Tyler Jones went 3-for-5 to lead St. Olaf to an opening-round 11-3 win over Hamline University before the second round was postponed by rain.
The win was the 400th career victory for St. Olaf head coach Matt McDonald, who is in his 15th season.
St. Olaf will play top-seeded St. Thomas, which defeated Carleton 15-3 in the other first round game, tomorrow at 1 p.m.
Jones had a single in the first, an RBI single in the fifth and an infield hit in the sixth.
The Oles tagged Hamline starter Michael Bland -- who defeated the Oles last month -- for three runs in the third and another three in the fifth to take a 6-0 lead.
The Pipers rallied for a pair of runs in their half of the sixth off of the Oles' Brandon Agneberg, but reliever Pete Loizzo stopped the inning and finished the game to pick up a three-inning save.
Carlson Jones and Todd Mathison added 2-for-5 efforts at the plate for the Oles, who put the game out of reach with a five-run sixth inning.
