SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Former St. Olaf outfielder Andrew Schmiesing went 1-for-5 with a triple, his first hit with the club, and a walk to help the St. Paul Saints defeat Sioux Falls on Sunday.

Schmiesing, a 2008 graduate of St. Olaf, was taken in the 11th round of the 2007 draft by the Minnesota Twins. He signed and played two seasons with the Twins before being released this spring training.

He was immediately picked up by the Saints to become the third former St. Olaf star to join the American Association franchise in the last three seasons with Charlie Ruud (2005-present), who is the club's all-time win leader, and Brian Sprout '02 (2006-08).
