NEW ORLEANS - The St. Olaf men's track and field team posted a cumulative 3.150 grade point average to earn United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors.

The team's John Schantzen and Cullen O'Neill were named to the Division III All-Academic teams. To earn a spot, individuals must carry a minimum 3.3 GPA while meeting the NCAA Division III Indoor or Outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event.

Schantzen was an All-American at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships with his third place throw in the shot put in May. Earlier in the month, he broke the school record at Hamline's Meet of the Unsaintly before winning the MIAC title a week later.

O'Neill competed in the 1,500 at the NCAA's.

St. Olaf, which was fifth at the MIAC's, was one of six MIAC institutions that earned All-Academic team honors. The MIAC and the University Athletic Association landed the highest number of member schools on the list, with six schools from each conference attaining recognition.
