ST. PAUL, Minn. - St. Olaf graduate Todd Mathison was signed by the American Association's St. Paul Saints on Friday evening.
Mathison is the fourth former Ole to fill the Saints' roster since 2006 -- joining Brian Sprout (2006-08), Charlie Ruud (2005-09) and Andrew Schmiesing (2009- ) -- and the sixth to sign a professional contract since 2002.
He was 27-7 in his four years on the hill, compiling a 27-7 record with a 2.37 ERA, which included a 9-0 All-America rookie season. He was a three-time all-region selection and earned All-MIAC honors in each campaign. During his junior year, he was the league's co-player of the year after he hit a career-best .393 and went 6-2 on the hill.
This spring, he hit .367 with five homers and 50 RBIs, which rank fourth in school history.
