Women's cross country fifth at Les Duke Invitational

GRINNELL, Iowa - The St. Olaf women's cross country team competed in their first championship length race at the 49th Les Duke Invitational, finishing fifth in a field of 11 teams.

Finishing first for the Oles was first year Emma Lee, who was 14th overall with a time of 23:31. Maren Westby was second for the team in 24:09, while senior captains Michaela McLaughlin and Abby Smith were 23rd and 24th overall in 24:15 and 24:16, respectively. Rounding out the scoring for St. Olaf was Hannah Dennis, who was 43rd overall in 25:13.

Truman State won the meet with 44 points, followed by Bethel University with 55 points. St. Olaf College was fifth with 125 points.

The St. Olaf men's and women's cross country teams will compete next on Saturday, September 19 as they host the St. Olaf Invitational in Northfield.
