NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Deanne Schmidt and Catie Christoffel each scored to lead St. Olaf to a 2-1 women's soccer win over visiting Carthage College on Saturday afternoon.

Carthage scored on a penalty kick, off the foot of Shannon Chesna, with 2:54 left in regulation to make it 2-1. The Oles then held the ball for the majority of the remainder to secure the win.

Schmidt's goal came after a turnover in the 11th minute. Christoffel's tally came in the 56th minute.

St. Olaf held a 13-8 advantage in shots and a 5-3 edge in shots on goal. Ole keeper Samantha Sickbert made three saves to get the win.

The Oles were wearing pink as a part of the team's Kick Against Cancer campaign. The team sold pink shirts to benefit the Susan G. Koman Foundation, an organization dedicated to education and research about causes, treatment, and the search for a cure.

St. Olaf will host Hamline University on Tuesday in the MIAC opener for both schools.
