ST. JOSEPH, Minn. - Kim Smisek's first of her 11 kills in the St. Olaf volleyball team's three-set sweep of Bethany Lutheran College on Friday gave her 1,000 for her career. She is the eighth player in school history to accomplish the feat.
Smisek, an All-MIAC selection as a first year and an MIAC playoffs all-tournament pick as a sophomore, has at least 11 kills in each of the team's 11 matches this fall.
The Oles cruised over the UMAC's Vikings -- 25-12, 25-18, 25-18 -- in the first of two Friday matches with the help of Melissa Burch's 10 kills.
St. Olaf finished the day with a three-game sweep of Presentation College -- 25-13, 25-11, 25-11 -- behind Smisek's 15 kills and nine each from Burch and Paige Olson.
The Oles (11-2, 0-1 MIAC) finish the two-day event tomorrow with matches against UM-Morris and Crown College.
