Ruon fifth, men's cross country seventh at Roy Griak Invitational

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The St. Olaf men's cross country team placed seventh in a field of 35 teams at Saturday's Roy Griak Invitational. The team's top runner, Dobuol Ruon, was fifth overall.

Ruon, who was second in last week's St. Olaf Invitational, crossed the line in 25:48.7. Second for the Oles was Jacob Marotz, who was 22nd overall in 26:38.5. Also scoring for the team were Jon Lambert -- 53rd in 27:14.7 -- and Andrew Nussbaum -- 85th in 27:50.2. Rounding out the team score was Ben Wilson with a time of 28:16.8.

First overall in the 8k race was Zach Wilhelmy from UW-La Crosse in 25:27.6.

The team from UW-La Crosse also won the meet, scoring 48 points. UW-Platteville was second with 81 and Emory University was third with 113.

The Oles totaled 281 points, good for seventh place and placing them first among the seven MIAC teams competing.

The St. Olaf cross country teams will compete next Friday, October 2 at the Blu-Gold Invite in Colfax, Wisconsin.
