Men's cross country 11th at BluGold Invitational

COLFAX, Wis. - Members of the St. Olaf men's cross country team competed in Friday's BluGold Invitational, combining to place 11th of the meet's 18 teams.

Finishing first for the Oles in the 8 kilometer race was first year Chris Massey, who was 28th overall in 26:51. Matthew Perkovich was second for the team in 27:11 (43rd overall), while Joe Paille was third with a time of 27:59. A pair of first year runners, Brian Tomlinson and Tim Lillehaugen, were the final scorers for St. Olaf in 107th and 125th places, respectively.

Wade Ekstrom, a senior from Macalester College, won the race with a time of 25:26.56.

The meet-hosting team from UW-Eau Claire won the BluGold Invitational with 46 points, edging out the University of St. Thomas, which scored 50 points. UW-River Falls was third with 88 points. St. Olaf scored 286 points for their 11th place finish.

The St. Olaf men's cross country team will be off next weekend. They compete next on Saturday, October 17 at the Jim Drews Invitational in La Crosse, Wis.
