LEXINGTON, Ky. - St. Olaf junior Kim Smisek was named the AVCA Division III player of the week on Tuesday after she averaged 5.79 kills/set and hit .366 in the Oles' 5-0 week.

Smisek had at least 20 kills in each of the team's first three matches of the week, including a career-high 31 in a five-set win over Luther on Friday in the second round of the IIAC-MIAC Border Battle.

Smisek leads the country in the league in kills (4.93/set), the MIAC by over a kill/set (3.90 is second-best) and has helped the Oles (19-2, 3-1 MIAC) to their best start since the 2001 team started 19-2 as well.

St. Olaf, which has an 11-match winning streak, hosts Bethel University on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
