WINONA, Minn. - John Zietlow scored a pair of second half goals to lead 21st-ranked St. Olaf, which had a 3-0 advantage, to a 3-2 men's soccer win over host Saint Mary's University on Wednesday night.
Jack Pueringer's unassisted goal in the 20th minute gave St. Olaf (11-2-1, 5-2-0 MIAC) a 1-0 lead. Then, after almost 40 minutes of scoreless soccer, Zietlow scored back-to-back goals at 58:55 and 75:55 to make it 3-0.
Saint Mary's didn't go quietly. The Cardinals had scores from Andy Adair and Tony Olsen in the 79th and 86th minutes to cut the lead to 3-2, but the Oles held on for the win.
St. Olaf plays at Macalester on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
