Men's soccer edges Bethel in final minutes

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Nathan Swenson scored on a feed from Jack Pueringer with 4:51 left to lead St. Olaf to a 1-0 MIAC men's soccer win over Bethel University on Tuesday afternoon at Rolf Mellby Field.

The win keeps St. Olaf (12-3-2, 6-3-0 MIAC) alive in the hunt for one of the three remaining MIAC playoffs spots.

Bethel had its best opportunities in the first half, collecting three of five shots on goal in the frame. St. Olaf responded with a solid second half, outshooting the Royals 8-1.

Swenson's score was his tenth of the year, which ranks second in the last 11 seasons at St. Olaf.

The Oles host regular season champion Carleton on Saturday at 1 p.m. St. Olaf can clinch a playoff berth with a win.
