Prunty, Smisek are All-MIAC

ST. PAUL, Minn. - St. Olaf juniors Kelly Prunty and Kim Smisek were named to the MIAC's volleyball all-conference team on Wednesday after the tandem helped lead St. Olaf to a third place finish in the league.

The honor was the second for each. Prunty earned the nod last season while Smisek did as a first year in 2007.

Each have been on every all-tournament team the Oles' have competed in this fall and have been at or near the top of the NCAA Division III statistical leaderboard. As of games played through Nov. 1, Smisek leads the nation in kills (4.93/set) while Prunty is second in set assists (11.19/set).

The Oles, ranked 21st in the latest AVCA national poll, jumped two spots fifth in the latest NCAA North Region rankings.

St. Olaf (26-3) defeated Saint Mary's in the first round of the MIAC playoffs on Tuesday and will face the second seed, St. Thomas, tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. at Concordia University-St. Paul.
