Global vision, Christian mission: College builds community of faith while exploring diversity

As implied by the mission statement, St. Olaf is a College of the Church. In fulfilling that role, St. Olaf has developed a large religion department and the requirement for two Biblical theology study (BTS) general education (GE) credits in order to graduate. St. Olaf also professes a desire to increase awareness of other cultures and religions. How does the department balance these responsibilities while honoring the needs of religion majors, as well as developing the diversity of the major within – and without – a Christian context?

In July of the first year of the new millennium with the summer sun hot and blazing on thousands in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, it all changed for Ozomatli.
