Holdups delay Boe renovations

Due to a series of delays, Boe Chapel’s new organ will not be completed by early November as planners had hoped. The goal was to have organ work finished by the week of Founder’s Day, with a celebration of the chapel and organ on Nov. 11.

Anderson appreciates strong faith, ELCA connection

Most members of the St. Olaf community know the importance of the college's faith and its connection to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). St. Olaf's identity as a college of the church has not escaped the notice of President David R. Anderson '74, and he views the faith of the college community as vital to it’s mission.

Groups push for votes

On Nov. 7, millions of Americans will head to the polls to cast their vote for local, state and national political seats as well as a diverse array of referendums and initiatives. The midterm elections, so called because they fall between presidential elections, are traditionally not as well attended as presidential elections.

Chair promotes film

The number of people who witnessed the end of St. Olaf’s Communications Program eight years ago due to budget constraints are now dwindling, but the study of media appears to be making a comeback. Last Thursday, English professor Diana Postlethwaite was announced as the college's fifth Boldt Distinguished Teaching Professor in the Humanities.

Illegal downloading punished

Eighteen students have already been reprimanded by the Dean of Students office for illegal music and movie downloading this academic year. This number is nearly double the average number of students who get caught illegally downloading files in one year.

Rumor Has It: The Homecoming theme was chosen because of Steve Irwin's death

Many students thought that this year’s Australian Homecoming theme, “Oles Down Under,” was chosen after the recent death of conservationist and animal enthusiast Steve Irwin. This rumor is false.

Security concerns

Early Saturday morning, the day of St. Olaf's annual Fall Concert, residence halls went on 24-hour key-card after an unidentified male entered a room in Rand Hall, was confronted by the residents and ran out.

Homecoming goes 'down under'

In an attempt to find a unique, interesting Homecoming theme, organizers chose "Oles Down Under" as the focus of this year’s celebratory activities. Events during Homecoming Week include movies, a poker tournament and a reptile petting zoo. Festivities will culminate during the weekend with the inauguration of President David R. Anderson '74 and Saturday’s Homecoming game against St. John’s.
