The last time the St. Olaf football team beat Bethel University, the world was a very different place. The first George Bush was serving his last months in office, cellphones resembled large plastic bricks and most of todays college seniors were just getting their feet wet in the third grade.
Theres an old adage: Its not the size of the dog in the fight, its the size of the fight in the dog. Its a saying that St. Olaf running back Bobby Andrade 07 has truly taken to heart.
Of the nearly 300 men representing 16 teams lined up on the starting line of Saturdays St. Olaf Invitational, only a handful of the top runners entered the race with a strong shot at victory. St. Olafs Tony Hoff 07 did not initially count himself among them.
The brisk September air immediately indicates the home stretch of the Major League Baseball season. Teams continue to prepare for their divisional title runs, others fight for Wild Card standing, and those teams clearly out of the race strive to make key acquisitions for next year.
The St. Olaf mens golf team concluded its second tournament of the season this weekend at the St. Johns University Invitational at the Territory Golf Course in St. Cloud, Minn.
The womens golf team started off its season with a twelfth place finish in the Cobber Invitational held at Wildflower Golf Club in Detroit Lakes, Minn.
