Baseball's offense sputtering

The St. Olaf baseball team scored just three runs in 14 innings en route to a doubleheader split with Mayville State University of North Dakota.

Youth makes the difference

St. Olaf sent a trio of young talent to the 2008 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving Championships held last weekend at Miami University of Ohio. First-year swimmers Alli Beardsley and Kjersten Grinde, along with diver Alyssa Germeroth '10 rounded out the Ole fleet.

Athletes sparkle

In Ada, Ohio last week, two Oles added their name to the All-American list for indoor track and field, sophomores John Schantzen and Amie Fillmore.

Winter teams, athletes receive awards

After a winter in which neither of St. Olaf's hockey teams or basketball teams made the playoffs, several athletes from those squads, as well as standouts from other Ole teams, received a variety of postseason honors.

Women's tennis serves win

The St. Olaf women's tennis team improved its MIAC conference record to 2 -- 2 after dominating the Concordia Cobbers early Sunday morning to end the indoor season. The women swept doubles play, an area the women struggled in a week ago, and five-of-six singles matches to trounce Concordia 8 -- 1.

Men enjoy rout

The St. Olaf men's tennis squad upended its three-match losing streak with a potent 7 -- 2 win over the Concordia Cobbers Sunday. The men took points in two-of-three doubles matches, and then dominated singles play by winning five of the six remaining matches.
