Cantorei Choir returns home for reflections, alleluias

Glorious choruses of "Alleluia" resounded through Boe Memorial Chapel on Monday evening as the St. Olaf Cantorei presented their home concert after returning to campus from their weekend tour.

Veselica Spring Concert delights: Dancers take journey around the world on stage

For those of us who are continuously craving cultural versatility in the arts on campus, we finally had our hankerings satisfied last Friday and Sunday through dance. The Veselica Spring Concert provided the St. Olaf community an opportunity to bounce around from country to country without ever having to leave their seats. The studio was jam-packed with audience members eager to take part of this wonderful cultural experience. I had to sit on the stairs because they were all out of seats!

'Searchers' shocks viewers with forgotten prejudices

Devoting a Monday evening to St. Olaf's Classic American Film Festival series is a powerful reminder of how fast the twentieth century has moved -- and how far Americans' perceptions of themselves have come in the past few years. Be advised to leave your 21st century sensibilities at the door; the festival's last selection of John Ford's 1956 "The Searchers" is one that, while stunning audiences with the beauty of the open southwestern sky, will also shock them with stark prejudices of past centuries.
