Staff in the Information and Instructional Technologies (IIT) were doing routine updates on one server when an issue, part of the software the company has not seen fit to fix, surfaced, causing the data on the remaining servers to be accidentally deleted.
IIT had to go back to the last back-up save of the data, which was from 1 a.m. Monday morning. All data created and saved to the network after 1 a.m. was lost.
IIT has been working around the clock to recover lost files. The classes drive was restored first, followed by public labs, administration offices, shared folders, printing and staff drivers.
Although the network was not up and running by Tuesday, as hoped, IIT is slightly ahead of schedule in its restoration of the servers.
